The roof of Neuen Museum Weserburg is made of light-weight concrete slabs (b/l ~ 0,50/2,10 ; roof pitch ca. 48°).The slabs are supported by steel girders and showed both visible deformations and cracks (w ≤ 0,5 mm). The reasons of these defects were not known.
Load tests simulated the extreme stress situations caused by wind, snow or man laod. They showed serviceability and sufficient load carrying safety. Crack width and their change under loading were docuimented, so that these result could be used for further restoration measures.
