In the course of a load test we constantly monitor the incoming data – e.g. mass of the load, deformation, strain – on a computer screen. This demands high attention since we have to analyse the data and check their plausibility at the same time.Load tests must never become a hazard for the health and sustainibility of the structure under examination. That is why it is essential to prepare each experiment thoroughly, calculate the reactions that the structure might show in advance and design the experiment accordingly.
Data that we commonly collect when analysing surface constructions include: Deflection, slope, (steel) strain, (concrete) compression, shear strain, crack growth, oder settlements.
In special cases it is useful to add the analysis of sound emissions. It can supply valuable information on crack formation, friction and bonding defects.
